The Legendary 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster Prototype: Chassis GT108

The Ford GT40 stands as one of the most iconic racing cars in automotive history, born from Henry Ford II's determination to beat Ferrari at Le Mans after a failed takeover bid in the early 1960s. Among the early prototypes, chassis GT108 holds a special place as the first open-top roadster version, blending raw performance with an exhilarating open-air design. Completed in March 1965 by Ford Advanced Vehicles in England, GT108 was one of only six GT40 roadsters ever built (and the first of four primary ones). It featured a steel monocoque chassis, a mid-mounted 289 cubic-inch V8 engine producing around 385 horsepower, and a distinctive redesigned nose with higher rear intakes compared to closed coupes.
